The Nighthold is the third Legion raid, opened in patch 7.1.5. Ten bosses inside Elisande's palace, the entrance in Suramar, and Gul'dan at the end.
Entrance and difficulties
- Entrance: Suramar, near the Sanctum of Order (roughly 43, 62) — the way down into the dungeons beneath the palace.
- The raid is the story finale of Suramar: the Insurrection chain ends right at the Nighthold's gates. You do not have to run the campaign, but without it half the story passes you by.
- Four wings: Arcing Aqueducts, Royal Athenaeum, Nightspire and Betrayer's Rise.
| Difficulty | Item level |

| Raid Finder | 855–865 |
| Normal | 870–880 |
| Heroic | 885–895 |
| Mythic | 900–910 |
The bosses in order
Skorpyron
A huge scorpion that scatters shards of its shell around the arena and hits in a cone in front of itself.
Hide behind the debris from his charges, do not stand in front of the boss, and finish off the small scorpions.
Chronomatic Anomaly
The boss speeds time up and slows it down for the whole group.
In the fast phase push out as much damage and healing as you can; in the slow phase finish off the spawns and get your mana back.
Trilliax
A cleaning robot that has gone mad, cutting the arena with spinning beams and coating the floor with filth.
Dodge the beams and stay out of the soiled areas — the whole fight is about movement.
Spellblade Aluriel
Three schools of magic cycle one after another: frost, fire and shadow.
Watch which school is active and get ready for its mechanic in advance: each one has its own pools and its own way of killing the inattentive.
Star Augur Etraeus
A fight made of constellation phases, each with its own element. At the end gravity disappears and the whole raid floats up.
Hold your formation for the phase and do not relax in zero gravity — steering there is hard.
High Botanist Tel'arn
The nightborne clones himself into several versions, each with its own magic.
Take the clones in the priority your leader calls and burn down the sprouts before they overrun the arena.
Krosus
A fight on a bridge: the giant smashes the deck and the bridge slowly falls apart under your feet.
Fall back with the raid onto the sections still standing and keep your damage high — this is essentially a DPS check.
Tichondrius
The nathrezim summons waves of demons and hits in areas.
The adds are the priority: if they live too long, the raid will not survive the next wave.
Grand Magistrix Elisande
The mistress of Suramar controls time: she speeds up and slows down zones of the arena and rewinds the fight.
Run between the fast and slow zones as your leader calls it and destroy the singularities.
Gul'dan
A three-phase final fight: the warlock is summoning his master to Azeroth.
The first phase is about demons and fel on the floor, the second about the Eye of Kilrogg, the third about the Avatar. Dispel the corruption on players immediately.
What the raid gives
- Tier 19 tokens — as in The Emerald Nightmare and Trial of Valor, this is where the rest of the set comes together.
- Legendaries: the raid bosses are one of the sources of Legion legendary items.
- Mounts from Gul'dan: the Fiendish Hellfire Core is a guaranteed drop on Mythic, the Living Infernal Core is a rare chance on Normal and above.
- Armour appearances, artifact relics and the raid achievements, including the Mythic meta.
On 7.3.5 the Nighthold is cleared by a small group at 930+ item level. Go straight for Mythic — that is where the mount, the achievements and the best appearances are.
