Zones

Suramar: the complete guide

Asyncio 26 September 2026 100

Suramar is the biggest zone in Legion and a campaign that runs for weeks, not a place you clear in one evening. It has its own currency, a disguise, two dungeons and The Nighthold raid. Below is the whole sequence, step by step.

How to get there

  • Level 110.
  • The storyline of three of the four starting zones completed (Azsuna, Val'sharah, Highmountain, Stormheim).
  • Pick up the introductory quest from Khadgar in Dalaran — it will send you to the Suramar coast.

The first block is the prologue, the Nightfallen But Not Forgotten achievement: you find First Arcanist Thalyssra, get the refuge of Shal'Aran up and running and pull Telemancer Oculeth out. After it, Suramar's World Quests open up.

The prologue takes an evening or two and does not require reputation. Until it is done, Suramar is a dead zone: no quests, no teleports, no reputation.

Ancient Mana

Ancient Mana is the zone's currency, and in the first few days you are always short of it.

  • Where to get it: the glowing Ancient Mana crystals all over the city (the main source), chests in the districts, elite and rare mobs, World Quests.
  • What to spend it on first: Oculeth's telemancy beacons. Every beacon costs mana to unlock, and every jump costs mana as well — but without them you will be crossing the whole city on foot.
  • Everything else: story turn-ins of mana, the city's vendors and entry to the Withered Army Training scenario (from 400 mana for 8 Withered up to 2000 for 20).

The disguise

The Masquerade quest gives you a Nightborne appearance on an extra action button (ExtraActionButton).

  • Under the disguise you can walk past patrols, collect mana and talk to NPCs without any trouble.
  • It drops in combat, from combat abilities and from the wrong mount.
  • Trackers and special guards see through the disguise — keep well away from them.
  • A handy macro: /click ExtraActionButton1.

Nightfallen reputation and the chapters

The campaign chapters unlock at reputation levels with The Nightfallen — which is why the zone cannot be finished in one evening. Reputation comes from the story, World Quests, the Withered scenario and the emissary (1500 for four quests). The quartermaster is Thalyssra in Shal'Aran.

The seven chapters add up to the Good Suramaritan achievement, and after it the final Insurrection campaign opens up (9 chapters from patch 7.1). Its last quest, Fate of the Nightborne, gives you the Arcanist's Manasaber.

Exalted also switches on paragon: every 10,000 reputation gives you a Nightfallen Cache with a chance at the Leywoven Flying Carpet.

The dungeons and The Nighthold

  • The Arcway and Court of Stars are unlocked by the matching campaign chapters, not by a button in the group finder. Both are in the Mythic+ rotation and give reputation.
  • The Nighthold is Legion's third raid, 10 bosses, with the entrance in Suramar itself: Skorpyron, Chronomatic Anomaly, Trilliax (strictly in that order), then Spellblade Aluriel, Star Augur Etraeus, High Botanist Tel'arn, Krosus and Tichondrius in any order, and Grand Magistrix Elisande and Gul'dan at the end.

Suramar is mandatory for Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part One, and therefore for flying in the Isles.
