Val'sharah is the druid zone in the west of the Broken Isles, where the Nightmare is breaking through from the Emerald Dream. It scales 98–110.
How to get there and how to run it
- Pick Val'sharah from Khadgar in Dalaran, fly in from a neighbouring zone (Azsuna to the south, Highmountain to the east) or, if you are a druid, simply step out of your order hall: the Dreamgrove is right here, in the east of the zone.
- The story: Tyrande asks for your help at the Temple of Elune — Cenarius has been taken by the Nightmare, Malfurion is a prisoner of the satyr Xavius, and something is wrong with Ysera. The finale leads you to the raid entrance.
- The story is split into seven chapters and completes the achievement That's Val'sharah Folks! (part of Loremaster of Legion).
- There are three archdruid branches (of the Vale, of the Claw and of Lore); the story only asks you to do one of them, but the achievement needs all three. Close them out back to back while you are in the right part of the forest.
- The final chapters send you into Darkheart Thicket and Black Rook Hold.
Druids should start the Broken Isles right here: the order hall campaign, the zone and the faction reputation are all in one place. Everyone else is better off taking this zone second — the opening section is heavier going than Azsuna's.
Reputation: the Dreamweavers
The faction is the Dreamweavers. Quartermaster Sylvia Hartshorn stands in Lorlathil (54.6, 73.2).
- The full zone story takes the faction to roughly Honored.
- At 110 the main source is World Quests, above all the bundle for four emissary quests.
- Faction insignias drop from chests and from rares: the grand one gives 1500.
- Clearing the Emerald Nightmare also awards reputation.
| Standing | Reward | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Honored | Treasure Map: Val'sharah | Shows every chest in the zone — buy it first |
| Honored | Boon of the Harvester | Shoulder enchant for gathering herbs |
| Revered | Ash'ana | Battle pet, 500 gold |
| Revered | Dreamweaver Initiate's Tabard | The first of the faction's two tabards |
| Exalted | Tabard of the Dreamweavers | The second tabard: the Dreamweavers are the only Legion faction with two |
| Exalted | Dreadleather patterns, enchanting formulas | For leatherworkers and enchanters, rank 3 |
Past Exalted the paragon system kicks in: every 10,000 reputation gives a Dreamweaver Cache with a chance at the Wild Dreamrunner. Keep in mind that the mount is a ground mount.
Dungeons and the raid
- Darkheart Thicket — 4 bosses: Archdruid Glaidalis, Oakheart, Dresaron, Shade of Xavius. The route is almost linear, and the trash hits hard and scatters in a panic.
- Black Rook Hold — 4 bosses: Amalgam of Souls, Illysanna Ravencrest, Smashspite the Hateful, Lord Kur'talos Ravencrest. Plenty of verticality and staircases, so pulling the packs correctly matters.
- The Emerald Nightmare — the first Legion raid, entrance in the north of the zone. 7 bosses: Nythendra always comes first, then Ursoc, Il'gynoth, Elerethe Renferal and the Dragons of Nightmare in any order, then Cenarius and Xavius.
By item level the raid has been irrelevant on 7.3.5 for a long time, but people still run it for transmog, achievements and a quest item for the Suramar story.
Treasures, rares and world bosses
- Treasures of Val'sharah — 40 chests. There are physically more of them on the map than you need, so missing a couple is no disaster.
- Adventurer of Val'sharah — 20 events; some of them you start by hand, by interacting with an object.
- World bosses: Shar'thos, the Soultakers and Humongris at Gloaming Reef. One Broken Isles boss is active each week and offers a quest with a guaranteed item.
What you need for Pathfinder
- Clear all the fog from the zone map. You cannot fly until Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two, and the forest is a vertical one — open all six flight points straight away (Lorlathil, Gloaming Reef, Bradensbrook, Garden of the Moon, Starsong Refuge, the Dreamgrove).
- Finish the story: That's Val'sharah Folks!
- Take the Dreamweavers to Revered — it counts toward Broken Isles Diplomat.
Part One gives +20% movement speed on the isles, Part Two gives flying, and both are account-wide.
